On April 2 the Artworks Gallery hosts a 6 p.m. talk and display by Scott Rosen
in Pine Mountain Village

Scott Rosen has loved stars since he was a young boy. “I was 8 years old when I became interested in astronomy,” he says. “My parents let me buy a book from the Book of the Month Club at school. I bought Peterson’s Field Guide to the Stars. It was an introduction to everything about astronomy.”

Now he spends many nights helping galaxies paint beautiful self-portraits in the dark.

The digital astrophotography images shown in these pages require hundreds of exposures, each several minutes long. These are digitally stacked together, filtered and processed, to develop all the elements of the star field into showing as vividly as possible, Rosen explains.
