Wildflowers are the center of interest at the Sierra Club Condor Group’s meeting on Saturday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m.

Pam De Vries will be presenting a program to illustrate local native plant blossoms of our neighborhood. Pam is the author of A Field Guide to the Plants of the San Emigdio Mountains Region of California.

De Vries’ handy field guide to this area includes our Gorman Hills, Frazier Mountain Recreation Area and the Mount Pinos Recreation Area of the Los Padres National Forest.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you to enjoy viewing the wide variety of plants within the wide variety of ecoregions that make up our area.

You may even be able to learn the names of those flowers you have wondered about every spring for years.

The program Saturday is open to everyone, no need to be a member. Just join us to enjoy the event.

The formal presentation segment of the program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Pool Pavilion Room of Pine Mountain Clubhouse. A little social hour precedes the main event, at
6:30 p.m. For more details, call 661.242.0432.

This is part of the May 8, 2015 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
