This week we had a conversation with Mountain Memories Association board member G. Rick. Here is how you and your family can participate to create two of the most important festivals in the annual cycle of fun in these Mountain Communities. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends here. People from all communities in this mountain region are welcome to participate.

The public is welcome to attend all meetings of Mountain Memories Association (MMA).

We love it when the public attends. I became involved with them by going to the monthly board meetings and they recruited me to the board.

MMA meets from February through May on the second Sunday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We are pizza lovers, so our tradition is to meet at Caveman Cavey’s Cave in Frazier Park. MMA devotes a major part of each board meeting to planning festival events.

Our next meeting is Sunday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Please come to it to become acquainted.

In June we have a specific planning meeting on the last Sunday for Fiesta Days planning, in addition to our regular “Second Sunday” board meeting.

Then in July we have weekly planning meetings in addition to the normally scheduled board meeting to tie up all the details for the three day community party.

Fiesta Days typically occurs the first full weekend in August. This year, right now, we are still in negotiation with our carnival ride provider about the specific dates.

As soon as that negotiation is complete we will announce whether Fiesta Days will be July 31, August 1 and 2, or August 7, 8 and 9.

Similarly, to prepare for Holiday Faire and the Fantasy of Lights Parade, we have a special meeting in October, followed by weekly planning meetings in November.
