Beautification Update: County Offers $250K ‘Bridge Loan’ for Frazier Water District

The Frazier Park Public Utilities District board is considering an offer by Kern County to provide bridge financing of $250,000 to accelerate the district’s ability to coordinate with the county’s Beautification Project in Frazier Park. By coordinating, the district can achieve major savings in the cost of excavation and repair of pipes under Monterey Trail and the portion of Mt. Pinos Way included in the county’s plan. Mark Evans, an engineer with the Kern County Roads Department, extended the offer.

At its November meeting, the FPPUD board voted to tentatively accept the county’s offer and asked for a letter stating terms. At the December meeting FPPUD staff informed the board that the letter from Supervisor Ray Watson should be in hand by the January 8 meeting. The county’s Beautification Project has now gone out to bid. Construction will begin in the spring.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has invited the FPPUD to submit an application for $2,000,000 ($1,000,000 grant and $1,000,000 loan), from which the bridge loan would be repaid.
