LEBEC and GORMAN, CA (Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 8 p.m.)—Photographer Jeff Zimmerman has been covering crashes on the Interstate 5 this week. Here is his report:

Two large semi-truck fires have blocked traffic on Interstate 5 for the past two afternoons, one was on northbound 5 north of the Quail Lake exit and the other resulted from two semi-trucks colliding today on the southbound 5, just south of the Frazier Mountain Road onramp. Today’s accident melted the cab of the truck, the other semi had only minor damage to the rear trailer.

The fire on the northbound 5 north of Quail Lake exit yesterday destroyed the cab. The cargo container suffered damaged. Both fires and accident are under investigation by the CHP. Both Los Angeles County and Kern County Fire Departments responded to extinguish the blazes.
