FRAZIER PARK/LEBEC, CA (Tuesday, June 30 at 10:56 a.m.)—A big rig hauling berries rolled down the embankment above the southbound Interstate 5 onramp at Frazier Mountain Park Road this morning at about 10:30 a.m. Kern County Fire Department engines 57, 56 and Hall Ambulance service responded to the accident, which was in L.A. County’s jurisdiction. Kern County Sheriff’s Department and CHP also responded. According to the CHP officer on scene, the driver, who was initially pinned in, was able to crawl out of the cab after the Volvo big rig landed on its roof. He walked himself to the waiting ambulance for evaluation and appeared to have minor injuries. The driver, Lorenzo Lopez, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. The southbound onramp is closed while crews form a plan for removal of the big rig. Motorists are advised to take Peace Valley Road south to Gorman for entry to southbound I-5, according to CHP Public Information Officer Adriaan Garcia.
