Big rig truck rolls over, catches fire with driver pinned inside

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 9:02 p.m.)—According to CHP, Kern County firefighters were able to extricate the driver. The driver will be flown to Kern Medical Center.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 7:23 p.m.)—CHP reports that Interstate 5 lanes remain open. The Grapevine southbound off ramp is closed and Edison Pump Plant Road is closed.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 7:19 p.m.)—The fire is out, firefighters have been able to open the cab of the truck and are working to extricate the driver who has suffered major injuries.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 7:15 p.m.)—A medevac helicopter will land at Grapevine Road East and Edmonston Pump Plant Road. The roadway is close at that location for the helicopter landing.

LEBEC, CA (Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 7:12 p.m.)—A big rig that lost its brakes coming down the Grapevine has rolled over on the Grapevine off ramp and caught fire with the driver pinned inside.
