Frazier Park, CA (Monday, April 4, 2011 at 4 p.m.)—The Kern County Fire Department has issued the following advisory to residents of the Mountain Communities.
Frazier Mountain Communities – CA. Recent heavy snow fall in the areas of Pine Mountain Club, Pinon Pines, Lake of the Woods and the local area have caused many broken tree limbs. The Kern County Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to notify residents of some safety issues.
● Care should be taken when walking under trees as broken limbs caught in upper branches can fall without notice. This is more likely during or after windy conditions.
● Some residents have taken to piling up broken tree limbs at the side of the roadway. This has led to piles of flammable material that may become a fire hazard as the wood dries out.
The Kern County Fire Department would like to remind residents living in Pine Mountain Club that they can take their wood to the PMC transfer station on Aleutian for free. Residents living in other areas may take their tree limbs to the Lebec transfer station at the west end of Landfill and Lebec Rd, also free of charge.
