California and the federal government are once again at odds over the future of vehicle emissions standards and clean energy initiatives.
On May 22, the Senate voted 51 to 44 to overturn the California Clear Air Act waivers, which mandated 35% of new 2026 model cars sold in the state be zero-emissions, 68% in 2030, and 100% in 2035.
