A red placard with the word “closed” was plastered on the window of the China Red House restaurant on Frazier Mountain Park Road in Lebec last week. A handwritten note from owner Daihong Li with the words, “Sorry we Closed / Need Fix refrigerator / we open next week” was on the door.

The Kern County Environmental Health Department came on Friday, March 16.

Inspectors found that the double-door refrigerator storage unit was out of order, leaving sensitive foods such as raw chicken at 68 degrees “for an…(please see below to view full stories and photographs, and how the restaurant was opened again within only a few days)

Signs were on the doors and the parking lot was empty at the China Red House restaurant in Lebec shortly after the visit by county inspectors on Friday, March 16, 2018. The owners rushed down to Bakersfield to seek an accelerated hearing on how to reopen.

Owner Daihong Li was quick to get to work to fix the violations Kern County Environmental Health inspectors found in her restaurant last week. A refrigerator had stopped working, and there were other out-of-code issues, such as employees eating in the kitchen and having sleeping facilities on the premises.

Open again on Wed., March 21.
