CUDDY VALLEY AND LAKE OF THE WOODS, CA (Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.)—We’ve received a call from a local motorist reporting a “CHP truck” traveling west on Lockwood Valley Road this morning, “probably checking out speeds,” he said. “Then when I got to the Mil Potrero ‘Y’ there were two CHP motorcycle officers turning around and heading back down into Cuddy Valley. In 23 years I’ve never seen a CHP motorcycle officer up here,” the Pine Mountain community resident said this morning at 8:30 a.m. “i’m wondering if there is a show of force today…I’ve never seen CHP motorcycle officers up here. I’ve seen LAPD, because a guy lives there in Piñon Pines…but not CHP.” He said he wants to alert his neighbors to be cautious today.
The Mountain Enterprise published a story in the June 30 edition quoting CHP Officer Moore who gave a “heads up” about his agency’s plan to begin monitoring the area for speeders. That day has arrived. It is unknown whether the monitoring will continue for a day, week or month.
