Kern County College Night will be Monday, Sept. 9, 5-8 p.m. at the Rabobank Convention Center in Bakersfield.
Representatives from public and private colleges and universities will be on hand to speak with students and parents, with breakout sessions on topics such as how to obtain financial aid, how to prepare if you want to be a college student athlete, how to write a personal statement and how to decide which college is right for you.
Students will also hear about why it’s important to take rigorous courses in high school, how to prepare for tests like the SAT and ACT and how undocumented students can qualify for the Dream Act. Sponsors promise it will “be bigger and better than ever” with an expanded array of information sessions. College Night is free and reservations/tickets are not required.
The event is hosted by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, sponsored by PG&E and Chevron.
