Community Teen Advocate Coalition Forming This Saturday

This Saturday, everyone who works with teens or is concerned about teen services in the Mountain Communities, and teens themselves are invited to join in a community event at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center, 3-6 p.m.

Here’s a letter from coordinator, Nicole de Leeuw:

Dear Neighbor,

I’d like to invite you to a community-wide meeting for anyone who is concerned about our teens and who would like to see more opportunities available for them.  It’s being held this Saturday, June 22nd, from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., at the Frazier Park Community Center.  Teens, Parents, Community Members, Community Organizations, Educators, Businesses, Recreation & Enrichment Providers, Public Safety Officers, Veterans, Media, Health Service Providers, and Elected Officials are all invited to participate. We encourage all stakeholders to attend so that we can brainstorm coordinated and collaborative activities and programs for our teens.

This “Teen Advocate Coalition” meeting aims to bring all stakeholders together twice a year.  The first meeting is being co-sponsored by Our Mountain Teen Center, FOCUS Central, and Hometown Publishing.  The Teen Advocate Coalition meeting agenda and documents can be found on the OMTC website www.ourmountainteencenter.org, and the results of our work on Saturday will also be posted there so that the ideas generated are accessible to all.  Please visit the website and have a look at the new tools available to everyone in the community who is a teen, has a teen, works with teens, or wants to help our teens.  I hope to receive your submissions for the Directory, learn from and discuss with you on the Forum, and share with you through the Database.  Please use it!

If I haven’t already met you, I’ve sent you this invitation because you work with teens in our area, expressed a desire to be involved in FOCUS Central’s after school programming or McCASA’s anti-drug programs, or because someone in the community recommended that I invite you.  We are all working together to help teens!  Please forward this email to anyone you know who might be interested.  I look forward to working with you to support our local teens.

Sincerely,

Nicole de Leeuw
