After a few setbacks, construction has resumed on the long-anticipated 7-Eleven and Tesla Supercharging project in Gorman. Developers aim to have all charging facilities operational by early spring 2026 and the 7-Eleven convenience store open later in 2026.
Hamo Rostamian, president of HRI Development, the construction company tasked with completing the project, said in a recent interview with The Mountain Enterprise that, while there is strong demand for electric-vehicle charging, the project has faced significant hurdles. “There are massive obstacles in the utility arena,” including power and water access, said Rostamian.
Arranging water service with the Lebec Water District proved especially challenging and expensive, Rostamian said, as the charging site is located in Los Angeles County while the water district is in Kern County.
