Corporation for Public Broadcasting to begin shutting down in September

After nearly six decades of supporting America’s public media system, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced on August 1 that it will begin shutting down after Congress’ decision to eliminate its federal funding. The organization supports Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), National Public Radio (NPR), and local public media stations. The funding reductions are part of the executive order signed by President Donald Trump on May 1, 2025, titled “Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Biased Media.”
