What better way could there be to help local organizations than to have a barbecue and donate the proceeds?

Well, turns out that having a barbecue AND a “turkey shoot” is double the fun.

But the annual “turkey shoot” in Lockwood Valley doesn’t harm any turkeys, according to Damon Dalton, who is one of the event’s organizers and is a captain with Ventura County Fire Department’s Station 16 in Lockwood Valley.
