The world’s most famous earthquake fault—the San Andreas—cuts right through the middle of our community. Shouldn’t you learn more about its behaviors and characteristics?

If you have ever wondered how earthquakes work, what causes them and how they change the landscape around us—you have a treat ahead.

Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m.

Join the Earthquake Tour of the San Andreas Fault led by Geologist Tim Elam, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Meet at the Ridge Route Communities Museum, 3515 Park Dr., FP to set up carpools. This is a terrific tour, good for the whole family. Elam will show the unique features of our area, and explain the details of this geologic area. A donation of $10 will be appreciated.

Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m.

The Condor Group of the Sierra Club hosts Geologist Tim Elam for Life on the Edge. He covers the 800-mile long fault that runs through western and southern Kern County, directly through these Mountain Communities.

How was the San Andreas discovered? How was it formed? What happened in the 1857 Fort Tejon earthquake? And what about 1952? What are the latest updates on the fault? All are welcome to attend this free event at the PMC clubhouse pool pavilion (refreshments 6:30 p.m.; program starts at 7 p.m.).
