​​Elusive Tule Elk spotted near PMC by Dawn Jenkins, Pinon Pines

How many of us realize the many natural wonders and resources we are blessed to have so close to our mountain home? About a twenty minute drive beyond Pine Mountain Club, a rare nature sighting awaits.

“What’s that? On the hillside,” a visitor to our area recently asked. “Looks like deer, but much larger — about a dozen of them!”

With that, the young family pulled over to investigate, standing next to their car, looking toward the northerly hills. That’s when I saw them and pulled my car off the usually-deserted two-lane road, to see what’s up…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
