Three years ago, Frazier Park resident Eric Futrell was shot in the head in a residential back yard in Lamont. The Kern County Coroner’s Office put the time of the shooting at 2:16 p.m. on May 4, 2020. Futrell died at about 2:36 p.m., according to the coroner.

Two days later, Kern County prosecutors charged Jonathan Villapando with Futrell’s murder. Both men grew up together here in the Mountain Communities.

Did Villapando Do It?
