ETUSD threatened with lawsuit on voting rights

The El Tejon Unified School District has received a letter from the Malibu law firm Shenkman & Hughes, demanding that ETUSD change its mode of electing school board trustees from “at large” to a “district” model, which will allegedly be more conducive to the election of minority candidates.

Attorney Kevin Shenkman said in an interview on Wednesday, Feb. 6 that his firm has sent such letters to about 100 school districts in the state of California. He said they are all—including ETUSD—in violation of the California…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
