Explosion heard before fire at motel in Frazier Park

Neighbors and a business owner near the Western Village Motel in Frazier Park are saying they heard an explosion on Wednesday, March 16, just before flames and smoke were seen pouring from room 5 at the motel’s location, which has several tenants.

One woman, who would not give her name, said she was tired of the problems at the motel.

Debbie Simons, owner of nearby Lions Day Care Preschool, however, was not so shy.

“This has got to stop!” Simons told The Mountain Enterprise at the scene as fire trucks were arriving. A California Highway Patrol officer was already there with a fire extinguisher.

The flames from the fire were out, but Simons was just getting started.

“The new owner of this motel has worked hard to improve conditions here. He’s invested a lot of money to fix the place up,” she said.

“I can’t take this anymore; parents have taken their kids out of the day care because they’re worried about what is going on next door,” she said.
