‘Feed the Need’ is what MCFRC does — Partnership is the key

Joining with partners to bring tangible help to mountain neighbors in need is what the Mountain Communities Family Resource Center (MCFRC) does well. This month they co-hosted a “Feed the Need” drive-through distribution of needed food and household supplies.

The MCFRC is serving as a fulcrum of hope and empowerment in the community, as this worldwide pandemic strains our local economy.

Bill Day discovered how easy the Frazier Park covid-19 self-testing procedure was—(left) a painless self-swab of his nose, and (above) courteous, attentive help from the many technicians on hand to staff the event. Testing was held in MCFRC’s parking lot August 20.

This string of cars lined up along Falcon Way for the ‘Feed the Need’ drive-through distribution of food, clothes, toys, diapers, wipes and more. That day, 144 families were served.

The Feed the Need drive-through distribution was a ‘huge community event’ that brought together volunteers from our Mountain Communities and Lancaster, contributing over 600 total hours of work for its success.

The seeds of MCFRC’s ‘Feed the Need’ collaboration grew from the friendship of (l-r) Frazier Park’s Stacy Werden and Lancaster’s Teri Harrison, along with Harrison’s ‘Voices of Our Youth’ partner Van Roberts.
