Next weekend, the Mountain Communities will celebrate its 55th Fiesta Days.
But many living here today don’t know why Fiesta Days was started and who was behind it.
The commitments of those who carry on the work of Mountain Memories are not easy to fulfill. Nevertheless, each year, the board members and many other volunteers donate their time to bring us events celebrating the pride of a community that stands up for itself and fills its needs. Here is the story of how it started.

In 1965, when our family moved to the mountains, there were two retired doctors available a few hours a day. No pharmacy. No clinic. There was a private ambulance—with no paramedics—based in Gorman.

The first ambulance service in Frazier Park was not Hall Ambulance. Flinn Ambulance began service here on February 7, 1976, but filed for bankruptcy a short time later. The Mountain Memories organization did not give up. Because of them, we have ambulance service today!
