Fire Breaks Out Near Lebec

LEBEC (July 16, 10:46 a.m.)—The big rig fire on the southbound Interstate-5 on the Grapevine has been put out. California Highway Patrol reported that the fire was heading toward the Lebec overcrossing south of Fort Tejon, the school and Tejon Ranch Corporation headquarters. The number 4 lane will be closed for clean up for a short time.

LEBEC (July 16, 10:03 a.m.)—A big rig fire on Interstate 5 ignited a brush fire at 9:45 a.m. that California Highway Patrol says is burning near El Tejon School. The big rig loaded with vinyl fencing was fully engulfed with flames by 9:45 and by 9:50 CHP reported the fire was headed toward the Lebec overcrossing south of Fort Tejon, the school and Tejon Ranch Corporation headquarters. By 9:53 the southbound #4 lane was closed on the I-5.
