Firefighter gets big thanks for saving homes

When a wildfire broke out before 1:30 p.m. near North Drive in Lebec on Wednesday, Aug. 3, Kern County Fire Department dispatchers took immediate action to send air and ground resources.

A helicopter drops water and a fixed-wing air-tanker drops fire retardant on the fire in Lebec, which was stopped at about 75 acres.
