First Teen Zine project published: “Missing in the Woods”

By Elke Heitmeyer

The first Teen Zine project, which started a month ago, culminated with four teenagers finishing their first “Zine” (small magazine) with the help of Gisa Seeholzer and Wayne Diehl of Books In The Woods. The Zine was titled, “Missing in the Woods.” Students chose a Halloween theme, and each student developed a section.

Calling themselves the “Mountain Youth Collective,” Ambrynn and Torynn Fording, Charlotte Haggin, and Apollo Phoenix created this edition.
Tracing the origins of All Hallows’ Eve, Torynn said, “It is a day, when the boundary between the Otherworld and this world is blurred, making contact with the spirits of the ‘aos si’ (mythical creatures) and the souls of the dead are much more likely.”
