In the September 7 edition of the The Mountain Enterprise, a “typo” error was accidentally introduced during page layout to our chart (page 7) that illustrated the annual Academic Performance Index (API) for Mountain Community schools. The API scale ranges from 200 to 1000—800 is the basic proficiency target. Federal law requires a 5-point increase each year. Scores for El Tejon School (shown as El Tejon Elementary in state websites and above) were correct, but the change from 2006 to 2007 is -4, not -13 as accidentally carried last week. The staff and management of The Mountain Enterprise sincerely apologize for the error.
