Forest Service fast-tracks logging on Pine Mountain

Critics object that ‘Categorical Exclusion’ is being used again to target old-growth trees on Pine Mountain with no environmental assessment and little public comment. Loss of chaparral habitat is also a concern. Submit comments by June 30.

The United States Forest Service has proposed removing trees from a 755-acre section of the Los Padres National Forest on Pine Mountain Ridge, which is a 38-mile drive from Frazier Park through Lockwood Valley.
