FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at 2:40 p.m.)—Kern County Sheriff’s Office’s press release follows:
On September 17, 2020, at 1155, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a possible active shooter at Basham Funeral Home, located at 3312 Niles St. Deputies responded, along with CHP and BPD, and located one black male victim deceased in the parking lot. Deputies believe a funeral was occuring at the time and the victim was going to attend the funeral. It appears at least two people fired firearms during this incident. Homicide detectives responded and took over the investigation.
At this time, there is no suspect information and all of the witnesses fled prior to deputies arriving on scene. This homicide appears to be gang related, but that is still under investigation.

**The victim in this case is a 28 year-old black male. The previous release stating he was Hispanic was incorrect. His name will be released by the coroner’s office at a later time**
FRAZIER PARK, CA (Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at 12 p.m.)—At least one Frazier Park deputy has been dispatched to assist at the scene of an active shooter who opened fire at a funeral home where about 100 people were gathered. At least one person is dead.
