A memorial lunch is being planned at Los Pinos Restaurant this Saturday, Sept. 8 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. in Lebec. If you knew Sue, please join us for exchange of stories and memories in an informal lunch gathering.

Dedicated mother, community volunteer and worker Sue McKowen passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 10:51 p.m. in Bakersfield, from what her family believes may have been heart failure, but that is unconfirmed.

McKowen was secretary for the local AARP chapter, an officer of the Town Council and had been a proofreader at The Mountain Enterprise for several years, helping to raise the quality of this newspaper with her love of language. An obituary will be published next week or as the family is able to provide information.
