The nationwide search for a couple wanted in connection with an August 14 murder that appears to have occurred in Gorman ended on August 25 in Pueblo, Colorado. The couple was also wanted for kidnapping the murder victim’s three children. A Pueblo police officer spotted Brittney Humphrey at a motel there. The man she called her boyfriend and husband, Joshua Robertson, was apprehended a short distance away, according to a Pueblo Police Department report.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Lieutenant Joe Mendoza told The Mountain Enterprise at the time that extradition from Colorado could happen within about a week—if the suspects agreed to extradition on the kidnapping charges—or it could take a month or more if they challenged Los Angeles County’s request.

At press time on Wednesday, Sept. 14, both suspects were still in the custody of Pueblo County Sheriff’s Department.

Back in Los Angeles, homicide detectives still have a “security hold” on the case, meaning that the L.A. County Coroner and other agencies cannot release information about the case.

Mendoza did reveal at a Los Angeles press conference in August that the murder victim had suffered gunshot wounds, but L.A. has discontinued discussion of that information.

L.A. County’s Lt. Mendoza said the three young children of victim Kimberly Harvill (Humphrey’s half-sister) had been transported back to California and were in the custody of Child Protective Services here.

Fresno family friend Jeff Lawrence said the children’s grandparents attended a hearing last week. He said he does not yet know what happened there. Information about discussions at child-custody hearings is private.
