Gorman rehab and homeless shelter update — Part 3

Members of the community of Gorman are still asking why the managers of Lake Hughes Recovery and First Responders First drug, alcohol and trauma recovery facilities have not been willing to sit down to speak with Mountain Community residents. People want to understand more about the clinical models used for assisting clients in their rehab facilities. Lake Hughes Recovery (LHR) is currently licensed in Three Points. First Responders First is in the Pine Canyon area. Both are in the  Western Antelope Valley.

Now, according to filings with the State of California and Los Angeles County, they are seeking to change the largest building in Gorman, the Studio Six Motel, into a homeless shelter with drug rehab supportive services. The permit application submitted by Alex Frankian to Los Angeles County Regional planning uses those words. His name is listed on corporate filings as the CEO and all officers for LHR.

There appears to be some overlapping ownership in the proposed Gorman facility and a new facility being established simultaneously in Morro Bay, CA. Residents of both towns share the concerns articulated by…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
