Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich was the graduation speaker for the Gorman Elementary School eighth gade graduation on June 8. He spoke about making good choices today to obtain success in the future.

On the weekend before graduation these 12 graduates took an 8th grade trip to San Diego, where they went to a Padres game, visited Sea World, the San Diego port and Coronado Beach.
The Gorman School Library was dedicated to Julie Ralphs and Ruth Ralphs on May 23.
A bronze plaque was placed on the wall of the library in honor of Julie Ralphs and Ruth Ralphs. Julie has served on the Gorman Board of Trustees over 40 years, and Ruth Ralphs (who passed away last year) served on the board over 35 years.
The library dedication began in the Gorman Elementary School auditorium. Students and community members were in attendance. David Perry, Deputy to Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, presented a beautiful certificate to Julie Ralphs.
Lise Wastaferro, school librarian, was honored for her service to the district and was awarded the 2010-2011 Golden Apple Award. Laura Ramirez was honored for her service to Gorman students and was awarded the 2010-2011 Classified Employee of the Year Award. Julie Martinez was honored as the 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year. Then the plaque outside on the library building was unveiled.
