Grief of Benito Carrillo’s family and friends fills the courtroom

Tears and sobbing of about 30 of Benito Carrillo, Jr.’s Frazier Park family and friends filled Courtroom No. 1 in Kern County Superior Court on May 19. They were there to attend the sentencing hearing for Steve Gilmore of Lebec.

Carrillo, Jr.’s mother and sister told the judge about a loving young man who grew up in the Mountain Communities and whose father had died of a heart attack just six months before their 24 year old son and brother was killed in the brutal shooting.
