By TME Staff and a wonderful team of community contributors

Courage, Resilience and Kindness are superpowers demonstrated by the Class of 2022.

The gift these small mountain schools offer is that each of these graduates is known and cared for. They build lifelong friendships here. We are all extended family. This year we saw teachers, principals, staff, coaches, school boards and parents work together to bring normalcy and security back into these students’ classrooms.

The reward to the adult mentors is the joy of seeing curiosity, learning, character and talent flourish in young minds and hearts despite this continuing pandemic.

It took courage and perseverance for these graduates to focus on their studies and athletics. They reached for their ‘personal best’ this school year, and found it.

Kindness is contagious. Students mentored with kindness show kindness to each other. Kindness shared with others becomes a superpower.

That is one of the secrets of this elusive rare element called Resilience.
Resilience defies barriers. It is the healing that can sustain a lifetime.

The faces on these pages are those of true winners.

Look closely. You will see character, kindness and resilience in these young eyes.

Congratulations to the Class of 2022, and Gratitude to this wonderful community that mentors them.

This was El Tejon School’s cafeteria line during a pandemic: masks on and social distancing with six feet apart at all times.

When students returned to the classroom in November 2020, Mrs. Penner greeted them at the door with a smile and a squirt of hand sanitizer.
