I-5 off-ramps closed Nov. 4 through Nov. 6

GORMAN, CA (Saturday, Nov. 2 at 3:30 p.m.)—The northbound I-5 Gorman Road exit and the southbound I-5 Quail Lake Road exit will be closed from November 4 through November 6 according to Caltrans. See the times and other information about the project below.

Gorman Road and Quail Lake Road off-ramp closures:

WHAT: Temporary closures of northbound I-5 Gorman Road and southbound I-5 Quail Lake Road off-ramps. See map with alternate ramps HERE.

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 4, at 1 a.m. to Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6 a.m.

WHY: Excavation and concrete paving of ramp termini.

MOTORIST NOTIFICATION: Detours will be posted. Electronic message signs on the freeway will alert motorists to the ramp closures well in advance.

ALTERNATE RAMPS: For the northbound Gorman Road off-ramp, use the Quail Lake Road off-ramp instead. For the southbound Quail Lake Road off-ramp, use the Gorman Road off-ramp instead.

ABOUT THE PROJECT: This project is replacing slabs in both directions of I-5 between the Vista Del Lago Road overcrossing and the Kern County Line, a distance of 15.4 miles. This $100.1 million project, which will be completed in mid-2015, will extend the life of the pavement, reduce maintenance costs and closures, and provide a smoother ride for motorists. The contractor is Griffith/Coffman Joint Venture of Brea, Calif.
