Interstate 5 is now OPEN in both directions — Hwy. 138 is OPEN — Gorman Post Road is OPEN

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 5:25 p.m.) — CHP has opened Highway 138 and Gorman Post Road.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 4:15 p.m.) — Interstate 5 is now open in both directions.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 1:15 p.m.) — Interstate 5 and Highway 138 to remain closed until storm passes and crews have completed clearing of the roadway.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 7:46 a.m.) — State Route 138 is now closed. Two closures are in place: One just west of Hwy. 14, and another at 245th Street West to stop those attempting to come over from Castaic.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 6:53 a.m.) — Interstate 5 (I-5) has been closed, northbound and southbound, due to heavy snow.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Feb. 26 at 5:20 p.m.) — UPDATE: With Interstate 5 fully open, a small amount of snow is forecast for Monday and Tuesday with more snow in the forecast for Tuesday night.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1:03 p.m.) — UPDATE: CHP is now escorting 500 vehicles at a time over The Grapevine, Interstate 5.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 a.m.) — UPDATE: CHP reports it is testing brakes on I-5 and applying brakes is not stopping the vehicle. This means everyone will need to wait before Caltrans can have the interstate open for travel.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Feb. 26 at 7:45 a.m.) — UPDATE: Interstate remains closed at this hour under partly cloudy skies.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Feb. 25 at 5:26 p.m.) — UPDATE: Caltrans has made progress clearing snow off the road surface of Interstate 5, but has not completed the task. Watch for updates tonight and in the morning by about 8 a.m.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:15 a.m.) — UPDATE: Interstate 5 is closed again, due to heavy snow.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Feb. 25 at 1:30 a.m.) — UPDATES will resume approx. 8 a.m. Currently CHP is running escorts over I-5 with occasional lane closures.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:49 p.m.) — UPDATE: CHP has opened Interstate 5.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:20 a.m.) — UPDATE: CHP estimates the freeway has 8 to 10 inches of snow.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:15 a.m.) — UPDATE: CHP also reports closures of main local roads, including Frazier Mountain Park Road starting in Lebec, Lockwood Valley Road, Mil Potrero Highway, Hudson Ranch Road west of PMC and at Hwy. 166. The message is “Do not try to travel during this storm.”

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:52 a.m.) — CHP began closing roadways leading to the Grapevine over Interstate 5 before 2 a.m. Heavy snow was reported by CHP units prompting closures of State Route 138, southbound Interstate 5 at Grapevine and northbound Interstate 5 in Castaic by 1:30 this morning. Frazier Park currently has about 5 inches of snow on the ground as it continues coming down. This first main storm was later than predicted during the past week, but is now clearly underway. With forecasts estimating snow levels down as low as 1,000 feet, all motorists should check travel conditions for any alternate route before attempting to get around the Grapevine/I-5 closures. Closures include Hwy. 58, often used to get around I-5 closures by going through Tehachapi. To put this Interstate 5 closure in perspective, snowballs falling at the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles are now being reported.
