Interstate 5 closure details not fun for many residents

The news that most of our local northbound on-and-off-ramps will be closed all night for three and a half months has been hard for some of our neighbors to take.

Driving to Gorman just to get onto northbound Interstate 5 is not a fun idea.

But there is a way around it that the city news folks haven’t told you about.

What’s The Big Secret?

You can use the Fort Tejon northbound on-ramp for the entire duration of the project.

Caltrans Lead Inspector on the project, Phil Major, told The Mountain Enterprise the Fort Tejon northbound on-ramp is not within the project closure area and will remain open throughout the duration of the project. Just take Lebec Road north and you’ll be able to get on the freeway there. No trip to Gorman.
