Is the end of landlines on the horizon?

At recent public hearings organized by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), the argument on the table was simple but urgent: in an increasingly wireless world, should California still protect old-fashioned landlines?

While major telecom companies like AT&T argue for phasing out copper-based landline service in favor of modern technologies like fiber, satellite, and VoIP, many Californians are not ready to hang up on the reliable technology just yet.
