Is the Mountain losing AT&T landline service?

Communications giant AT&T filed an application in March 2023 with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) asking to be released from its obligations as “Carrier of Last Resort” (CoLR) in certain rural areas of the state.

That includes us.

According to CPUC, “A CoLR is a telecommunications service provider that stands ready to provide basic telephone service, commonly landline telephone service, to any customer requesting such service within a specified area.”
