Judge confirms Lebec man will face murder charges

Family, neighbors and friends traveled through a driving El Niño rainstorm on January 5 for the 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing in Bakersfield about the murder of Benito Carrillo, Jr., 24 of Frazier Park and Lake of the Woods.

Steve Gilmore, 58 of South Drive in Lebec is being held in Kern County’s Lerdo facility on $1,000,000 bail for allegedly shooting Carrillo the night of December 17, 2015 in front of Gilmore’s family home.

Gilmore has been in custody since that night. He appeared in court wearing a…(please see below to view full stories and photographs)
