Animal Shelter Director Head Rolls After Kern Medical Center Director Terminated

UPDATE: BAKERSFIELD, CA (Monday, Sept. 10, 2013 at 7 p.m.)—The Kern County Board of Supervisors has followed their dismissal of the head of Kern Medical Center with the termination of the Kern Animal Center Director Jen Woodard. She has been in charge of the facility for less than a year. This statement was released by the County Administrator’s office:
“The Board of Supervisors has concluded that a change in leadership of the County’s Animal Control Department has become necessary,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Maggard said on behalf of the Board. “Accordingly, by a unanimous vote, the Board of Supervisors has relieved the Animal Control Director of her duties, effective immediately.”

BAKERSFIELD, CA (Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.) This evening John Nilon’s Kern County Administrative Office released a terse statement saying that the Kern County Board of Supervisors have released Kern Medical Center CEO Paul Hensler: “The Board has lost confidence in Paul Hensler’s ability to continue managing Kern Medical Center,” Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Maggard said on behalf of the board. “Accordingly, the Board has terminated Mr. Hensler’s contract immediately and he is dismissed immediately.”
