Frazier Park, CA (Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 at 6 a.m.)—A public memorial service for Kern County Sheriff’s Deputy Gabriel “Gabe” Gonzales, 45—who served the Mountain Communities public from the Frazier Park substation for nine years—will be held in Bakersfield at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Canyon Hills Church, 7001 Auburn Street, Bakersfield.

Attendees are asked to please wear masks. It is expected to be a large gathering. Deputy Gonzales contracted and died of covid-19 during the current delta surge, according to his family and the Kern Law Enforcement Association. Only 51% of eligible Kern County residents are vaccinated.

A private burial service for family and friends will follow the memorial service.
