Local Forest Roads Reopen

Los Padres National Forest announces road openings on Mt. Pinos Ranger District

GOLETA, Calif. – Los Padres National Forest officials announced on May 30 that forest roads and Off Highway Vehicle trails on the Mt. Pinos Ranger District will re-open for public use June 1.

Repairs have been made to roads that were heavily damaged by winter rains and the spring snow melt. U.S. Forest Service personnel have cleared downed trees and improved washouts, however four-wheel drive or high-clearance vehicles are highly recommended for visitors traveling in areas with creek crossings and steep mountain inclines.

Members of the public are reminded that they should always call ahead to the district office for the latest conditions and consult the National Weather Service for current weather forecasts. For more information, please contact the Chuchupate Ranger Station at 661.245.3731.
