Pine Mountain Club, CA (Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:50 p.m.)—Lisa Mathiason has been located. She was found by Search and Rescue teams north of Inspiration Point.
Pine Mountain Club, CA (Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 11 a.m.)—Helicopters can be heard overhead this morning in the ongoing search for a 77 y.o. female hiker on Mt. Piños. Lisa Mathiason was reported missing at 5:15 p.m. Friday, July 29. The Ojai Police and Ventura County Search and Rescue have been dispatched.

On 7-29-17, after receiving a report of an overdue 77-year old hiker, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office began conducting a ground and air search for the hiker in the Mt. Pinos area.
The report was received at 5:15 p.m. The Ventura Sheriff’s Office received a report that Lisa Mathiason was several hours overdue from an expected two-hour hike that began at the Chula Vista parking lot in the Mt. Piños area. Mathiason left the Chula Vista parking lot at approximately 10 a.m. and was due to return at approximately 12 p.m.
When they got the 5 p.m. report, the Sheriff’s Office immediately began a search for Mathiason in the air and on the ground, but Mathiason has yet to be located. No foul play is suspected in Mathiason’s disappearance.
Mathiason is described as a 77-year old white female, 5’4”, 140 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a white or blue flowered shirt, white sweater, white or blue cargo pants and carrying a multi-colored backpack.
