The Kern County Sheriff’s Southern Kern Search & Rescue team began combing the hills Friday evening, Feb. 4 for the son of a Lake of the Woods resident. Neighbors sounded an alert across the internet, some joined a search in the hills.

Ryan Forristal, 17 was reported missing when his mother came home to find he and his dirt bike gone that evening. Search and Rescue deployed. The youth called home Saturday at about 7 a.m. He said he lost control of his dirt bike and went over the side of a hill near Tecuya Ridge. Unable to walk the dirt bike out of the area and beyond cell range, “he found a campsite to spend the night,” the report said. No injuries were reported.
