Introduction: Eugene Dee and and his 12-year-old German Shepherd, Sara, stop during their walk every day at a plaque in Frazier Mountain Park bearing the words “Lisa M. Ward, 1969-1992.”
“Who was she?” Dee asked, “And why did she die so young?” Many members of our community have stepped up to try to help solve this mystery.
On Friday, Oct. 11, Ira Cone of Lockwood Valley called. He said he is a pilot concerned about the conflicting reports about Lisa Ward’s death. She was in the Air Force Reserves on active tour in Hawaii when she died in an aircraft crash.
Various local memories conflict: “a helicopter, then a private plane, then a jet.”
Cone suggested we obtain the official NTSB report.
Analysis
During a dark nighttime flight the pilot attempted to fly the USAF Aero Club’s airplane around the perimeter of the island.
