Community members gathered May 31 under an unseasonably warm sun at the Cody Prosser Memorial in Frazier Mountain Park. The joy of seeing one another face-to-face once again was tempered by the gravity of the event to honor military lives lost, symbolized by the Battle Cross on stage, a tradition from Civil War battlefields. VFW Post 9691 Commander Gil Valenzuela coordinated the event with dignity.
