FRAZIER PARK/MOUNT PINOS, CA (Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 10 a.m.)—There is partial sunshine on Mount Piños this morning. The temperature at Chula Vista parking lot (the top of Mt. Pinos Road) was 27 degrees at 9 a.m. Mt. Piños Road is clear of ice and snow at this time and is drivable all the way to the top. The meadow at the northeast edge of Chula Vista parking lot has up to 6 inches of snow in some places. See photos at right. The temperature at the “Y” intersection of Cuddy Valley Road and Mil Potrero Highway was 37 degrees at 9:30 a.m. There are numerous opportunities for snow play at various stops along Mt. Pinos Road on the way to the top. Motorists should stop only in areas where it is safe to stop. Other vehicles are traveling the road, so it is not safe to stop on the road. You must pull off the roadway before stopping. At 9:30 a.m. there was very little traffic leading up the to of Mt. Pinos Road.
