This box was attached to a balloon and released to gather data used by the military and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Who released it? Edwards Air Force Base and the National Weather Service in Ventura have been ruled out. Lockwood Valley’s Dick Albright, retired U.S. Navy Reserve (volunteer at Edwards), reports Vandenberg Air Force Base may be the source, but confirmation and more details are yet ahead.
